100 Mile Firefighter Cancer Support Challenge - 2020

Highlands of Scotland

The 100 Mile Firefighter Cancer Support Challenge raises money to support Firefighter cancer initiatives. The 2020 Beneficiary is the Carney Strong Initiative.  Retired Fire Chief Larry Webb started the Challenge in 2018, trekking 100 miles over tough terrain, steep slopes, washed out trails, and strong winds through the Highlands of Scotland. The conditions he faced were nothing in comparison to to those battling through cancer treatments, including his own daughter.

Our Mission
The Carney Strong Initiative assists fire departments throughout the country with occupational cancer prevention through education and the donation of decontamination supplies. Our focus is on smaller fire departments in suburban and rural locales comprised of volunteer, combination, and career staffing. Our purpose is to help combat occupational cancer to ensure that firefighters go home to their family, so they don't suffer at the hands of this dreadful disease.
